Site 2 is a piece of public realm between towers: pale stone paving laid in large slabs, strips of lawn, deep planters holding ornamental grasses, low white walls, a bench, and trees that have had time to grow. There is no building of its own to light. The ground is the subject.

The element
Everything rests on one fixture. A cylindrical bollard, matte anthracite, with a machined band at the collar, a white opal diffuser and a flat cap that overhangs it by a few millimetres. It stands about a metre, which puts the light below the grasses and well below the eye.
It repeats: along the walk at the lawn edge, inside the beds, at the corner where the paving turns. No poles, no brackets, nothing fixed to a wall.
02
Light on the ground
At night the ground does the talking. Each bollard lays a soft, warm pool: wide enough to read a paving joint, tight enough that the pool has an edge. The diffuser means you never look into a bare source, so from standing height you see a glowing cylinder rather than a lamp.
The light also finds its neighbours. It grazes the face of a planter, the underside of a grass clump, the white wall behind, and those surfaces carry the plaza. Between one bollard and the next the darkness is left alone, so the path reads as a chain of pools rather than a wash.
03
The city behind it
The other half of every frame is the skyline. Business Bay supplies the scale: towers in cream grids, a curved façade banded with horizontal light, one elevation flooded in red so saturated that the bollard in front of it goes black. In those frames the bollard is the only still, dark object in the picture.
That contrast is the whole idea. The plaza stays quiet at knee height; the towers are allowed to shout.

Design notes
One fixture, one light colour, one height, repeated until the ground reads. Nothing in the paving competes with the bollards and nothing in the planting tries to be a feature. A bench, a wall, a hedge, a lamp: the ground plane is furnished, not decorated.
